Dimensions and required space
Which billiard table fits in my space?

Dimensions and required space

When purchasing a billiard table, it is crucial to buy the correct size, not only based on the game you want to be able to play, but also because the available space often determines the maximum size you can accommodate. Therefore, below you can find an overview of the table sizes and the space required to play with a standard cue (140 cm). The table sizes are measured within the cushions.

If there is not enough space all around the table to play, it is not necessary to always choose a smaller table. This can often be resolved by using a shorter cue at that specific location. The shortest cues that are somewhat playable are 100 cm long.

Sometimes it is also possible to place the table in such a way that the game is situated more on the other side of the table.

Pool and Snooker

In pool, competition is mainly played on a 9 ft table. This is also the most common size for a pool table. Of course, you may not always have enough space to accommodate this size of table. If you have the room for it, an 8 ft table is definitely recommended for lasting enjoyment. A 6 ft table becomes too easy quite quickly and is only advisable if the available space is truly insufficient for a larger table.

Most snooker tables measure 12 ft, but not everyone can accommodate them, which is why you can also find them in 10, 9, and 8 ft sizes. If you have even less space and still want to play snooker, you can find smaller sizes in the form of an English pool table. Unlike the dominant American version, these tables have the same shaped cushions and pockets as a snooker table.
